The Steps To Marketing Your Business

Welcome to the WebToolsGuy.com!

Hello! My name is John Davin, the Web Tools Guy, and I am ready, willing and able to help you set up your presence on the Internet, whether you need tips and tools for building a web site, blog site, videos, newsletters, giving Webinars, writing e-books, or communicating and building leads through sites like Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, Pinterest and more.

How do I do that? I help you figure out what you want to do, then tell you where to get the tools you need to build an online presence, and then help you  find the people to do the work for you if you do not want to do it yourself.

Here is one such site I am helping with at this time – http://imajuicer.com. I have done all the work from going to Sears Photo store with the owner to get her pictures taken for all her marketing materials, to outsourcing the development of a logo, to setting up the web site, to setting up the system to capture e-mail addresses and sending out a newsletter, to creating videos for the site, a Facebook and Pinterest page, and more. Such as writing her own books and publishing them. Forgot that!

As I said I educate as well as setting up the tools, and I want you to see the type of free materials I provide, by reading this free checklist of things to do to prepare to give a Webinar, by clicking here. http://howtobuildawebinar.com/reports/checklist-howtobuildawebinar.pdf. I have many additional free reports on marketing tools, and you can access a few of my books here!

How do you get started? Start by signing up for my newsletter on the right side of the page, and I’ll send you lots of great content and even questionnaires you can fill out by yourself to get get you headed in the right direction for building your presence on the Internet!

Let’s Start At The Beginning: Creating Your Personal Photo Collection

Having a professional photo of you first is very important because it is the image that represents YOU in all of your online and offline marketing tools, and you need to use it to create just about all of your marketing material. If you plan to use your picture, you must have this before you can move forward with creating all of your printed and online marketing tools which I list below. You can use your picture in your Web Site, your Blog, your Facebook page, your Twitter page, your Linked In page, and all of your printed materials, such as your letterhead, fliers and brochures. more! So this is a very important first step for you.

Here is an example of the pictures we took at the local Sears Photography store for Zisa.

zisa-photo-example-11-1-2013

This is just one of the many shots we took that day, and she ended up spending just $200 for images she will use for a lifetime! And they were able to use different color backgrounds, poses (pointing over or down) and they can modify the images in any way you want, for a reasonable price ( you can have any photographer do this, it was very easy for us and convenient to use Sears). Then they put all of the images on a CD for you and you can use them anyway you want! We had pictures taken of her exercising because she is a health coach, others pointing down, telling people to subscribe to her newsletter below, etc. Your pictures will be based on what you do as well. Here is an example of how we used a few of these photos!

Example 1 Example 2Example 3

Of course you can use any local photographers for this, and I can share more ideas of how we did it if you’d like.  Just contact me here and mention what you need.

Create your logo

Your logo is very important because it is the image that represents you in all of your online and offline marketing tools. You must also have this before you can move forward with creating all of your printed and online marketing tools which I list below. Such as your Blog Site, Web Site, Facebook Page, Linked in Page, Videos, Video newsletters, E-Mail Responders, Webinars and more! This is a very important first step for you. Here is an example of the many logos I’ve helped create.
SLHT-Logo-Design-Ver 1 2b (3)You can outsource (hire someone to build it) your logo at any of these sites. Fiverr, Odesk, or I can recommend someone to build your logo for you. Just contact me here and mention what you need.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Create Your Printed Marketing Materials

Now that you have your logo, you can do many things, like creating your printed materials, which will include your business cards, brochures, fliers, envelopes and more. I will not spend a lot of time here because you can go to any Internet site or local printing company or office technology store like Staples.comOffice Depo, Office Max, etc. to get these items. We will be focusing more here on Internet marketing, the truly fast and easier way to grow your business.

Create Your Web Site

What is a Web Site? A web site is simply your location (e.g. www.yourwebsite.com) on the Internet where you display your products and services, accept payments for your products and services, provide after the sale support for your customers, and market additional products and services. Your web site is your best way to educate visitors to generate sales, close sales and offer support for your clients to encourage additional sales. Many times, it is your one and only contact with clients. Do it right!

Here you will find the tools and resources to build a professional web site, then we will present tools for marketing (driving traffic) your web site.

To start, y
ou will need to sign up with a company who will store your Web Site images, Videos, and all the necessary programming code for your Web Site. This is called Web site hosting, and I recommend Hostgator because of the excellent support and pricing. You will also need to decide on the the look and feel of your Web Site, and I highly suggest purchasing a template that is specifically for your industry because it will  you time and money, big times. You can visit sites like Template Monster   and Boxed Art Templates  to find the templates for your Web Sites. There are many more tools I can help you with, but I suggest you read my books to learn more. You will also need images for your Web Site, I recommend sites like Big Stock Photos. But I share many more sites for templates and images in my books. You will also need to be able to upload your template and your images to your computer. FileZilla is a great Open source FTP program for uploading files to your host. Grab it at  http://filezilla-project.org – a free download. Finally when you want to see how your web site looks in different browsers, you should visit http://browsershots.org  – a free online tool.

You will also need to collect payments for products you sell on your web site. Here are  few options.

  • Solution: E-OnlineData Accept payments over the Internet (merchant account)
  • Solution: Paypal – Accept payments through the Internet for goods and services
  • Solution: PayDotCom.com – A complete solution to sell electronic goods online
  • Solution: Clickbank.com – A complete solution to sell electronic goods online

Create Your Blog Site

What is a Blog Site? A Blog site is simply your location (e.g. www.yourblogsite.com) on the Internet where you share information with your readers  on a regular basis, much like a diary, except this diary is on the Internet where 300+ million people in the US alone can read your posts. You can also display your products and services, accept payments for your products and services, provide after the sale support for your customers, and market additional products and services, just like a Web Site. Some people even use their Blog Site as a Web site as the difference between the two is becoming less and less. Part of the reason for this is the power of a free program called WordPress, that allows you to create powerful blogs quickly and easily.

Your Blog Site is another great way to educate visitors to generate sales, close sales and offer support for your clients to encourage additional sales. Many times, it is your one and only contact with clients. Do it right!

You need many of the same tools to create your Blog site as you do your Web Site, so review the notes above on Websites also. But to start, to create your Web Blog, you will need to sign up with a company who will store your Web Site images, Videos, and all the necessary programming code for your Web Site. This is called Web site hosting, and I recommend Hostgator because of the excellent support and pricing. You will also need to decide on the the look and feel of your Blog  Site, and I highly suggest purchasing a template that is specifically for your industry because it will  you time and money, big times. You can visit sites like Template Monster   and Boxed Art Templates  to find the templates for your Blog Sites. But I share many more sites for templates and images in my books.

I highly recommend you download these quick reports about creating your Blog Site as they are very similar to building a Web Site.

Create Your E-Mail Responder (newsletters)

What is an E-mail Responder?  The e-mail responder is simply an Internet based software program that waits 24 hours per day for people to request information from it. When information is requested (someone signs up for your newsletter or series of e-mails), the system then sends an e-mail or series of e-mails (that has already been written by you ahead of time) with the correct information to that person’s e-mail address – usually within one to two minutes, or less.

What is the goal of an e-mail responder?

The goal of a responder is to help you generate more sales, consistently, with less effort, by integrating automated e-mails and newsletters into your marketing campaign. Basically, you want to educate your readers about you, your company, your products, services and more, with as little effort and cost as possible. That’s why you use an e-mail responder for your marketing needs.

The benefits of e-mail responders are:

Automation of your communications with your clients
Ability to send out newsletters or one-time e-mails instantly
Handles all the subscribe and unsubscribe functions for you on it’s own

Create Your Videos

What is a Video?  A video is simply anything that is recorded, whether on your computer, your phone or your camera. The videos can be uploaded to your web site, your blog site, Youtube and hundreds of additional sites to either generate sales, educate people, train people, or simply to entertain people.

There are many ways to build a video. You can do this

  • Use online services, like Talk Fusion to simplify recording, sharing and promoting all from one source
  • Use software programs like Camtasia to record and edit the videos

TIP:  I use Talk Fusion and Camtasia to create my videos. The Talk Fusion software allows me to create the video and send it out bye -mail, using their software. I just go online, record the video, and the software uploads it to their servers, then I can choose one of literally 700 templates for different type of occasion, use an online database to choose who I want to send the video to, and then it can send it out to one or thousands of people, using their e-mail servers. Whether you are sending out a business video, birthday card, an anniversary card, etc.. you have to see this! I use the Camtasia software when I need to edit the videos on my desktop as it is a tremendous program for that.

I’ve already mentioned that you can send out videos in your newsletter, but here is more information on that topic.

Build Your List With Free Reports or EBooks

Why write your own Free reports or Books? Although I sell many of my reports and books, I also write free reports books to give away for many reasons. The main reason is to build my mailing list, because I know the money is in the mailing list! As it usually takes 7 contacts to make a sale, I’d rather automate the process by e-mail as one of my contacts. And also use all of the additional tools listed on this page too make the additional contacts. The free book or the report is the thing that gets me the e-mail address. :)

I also write books because of the credibility it gives me. I also like the fact that others give away my books and promote me. And the fact that many of my books have affiliate links in them that pay me a commission when people click on the links and sign up for the product or service. A win-win situation. I show people how to do things, and I make money when they buy things from me, either from links in the book or because they are now on my mailing list and I offer them additional tools  and services.

Is writing an Ebook hard? Not with my latest EBook and Ebook template! It’s just $17 and you can get it here!
http://howtobuildanebook.com

The template has all the items you need. The header and footer. The table of contents. A Disclaimer. An affiliate statement. An about the Author section. A “Resources” page where people can learn about the tools they need to accomplish a task. And much more. You just open the template, edit the content, update the table of contents that is there already, and convert it to a PDF of anyone with any computer and any software can read it. All from one solution.

You need to check this out. Get it here.
